We stayed out the Maui Schooner Resort in Kihei booked through Vacation Escapes and in my opinion was a perfect location for our family. We typically stay closer to Kaanapali when visiting the island but being more in the middle of Maui made it so convenient to do everything! This resort was condo style with a full kitchen, two bedrooms, living room area and deck. We enjoyed grilling by the pool and eating dinner on the patio. It also had a beach right out front and tennis courts. It was a 5 minute drive from Kihei Village which had great local spots to eat and shop. The kids played at the beach park and we saw tons of crabs and chickens roaming around. I highly reccomend renting a car so you have the luxury to do things on your own time and explore the island wherever adventure awaits. Book your car rental here through Hawaii Discount Car Rental

I have always wanted to see the road to Hana when visiting Maui but never had time for a full day excursion or when traveling there with kids would make that day trip difficult. I did some research and for my birthday all I wanted to do was swim in a waterfall so that’s what we did! Twin Falls was a pleasant oasis to encounter very easily. I very much recommend this if you want to do a waterfall hike with kids that is easy for everyone at any age. For reference my kids are 6 and 4 so they were really excited and able to do this.
Twin Falls is one of the first stops on road to Hana so it’s hard to miss. On the way up you can stop at a variety of food trucks to choose from, we had tasty Thai to go before starting our hike. You have to pay a small fee to park at the entrance of twin falls and there is 3 waterfalls you can access within minutes at this location. It was truly perfect! We parked and within a short 5 minute walk we were welcomed by locals jumping off the cliff into the pool beneath the waterfall. We joined in and it was a small but beautiful fall to take in. The trail has signs for the other two waterfalls that are slightly further down the path to access.
We hiked to the next one which was about a 15 minute walk and tucked away so not super easy to swim in or access but wow it was surely beautiful to witness! We kept hiking up the hill for a bit longer which my kids did complain about being hot and tired of course lol but it was well worth continuing on. We hiked through a river stream with rocks and a bit uneasy path for about 20 minutes but it was still enjoyable to then finish our trek to see the most stunning waterfall pouring through a cove beneath the rainforest. It was so magical! We swam in it and explored the cave inside. Definitely recommend if you’re wanting to adventure to see waterfalls but limited with time and resources!

Some of my favorite beaches in Maui are the ones tucked away off the side of the road that you randomly find but of course recommend visiting Kaanapali Beach and Wailea Beach which are both highly touristy but stunning and must visits. The first season of White Lotus was filmed at the Wailea beach at the four seasons resort! Totally worth checking out if you’re a fan of the show. We also love Napili Beach which is full of sea turtles along with the beach attached to Mama’s Fish House (great seafood) for seeing the turtles lying out in the sand almost daily.

Surfing Goat Dairy Farm

We visited the goat farm inland and it was so much fun! We each got to hold baby goats that were just a few weeks old and they were seriously the sweetest babies. They chewed on our clothes and cuddled up when we sat in the chairs. It was so cute to see them interact with the kids and they loved seeing them jump up on the surf boards. Afterwards we got to do goat cheese flights and the flavors were delicious. I am a big goat cheese fan and I was so impressed and satisfied. We learned a lot about the farm and how the goats were raised. Definitely recommend when visiting with kids! The Vodka distillery is close by too.

Family Snorkeling Adventure
A must do when visiting Hawaii is to snorkel of course! There is so many great spots to just swim up freely on any beach and enjoy seeing a display of marine life but nothing is quite like the popular Molokini Crater snorkeling adventure. Although our kids are young and inexperienced swimmers we decided to research for the perfect excursion for the whole family to enjoy! I was beyond satisfied with our experience booking Four Winds Maui. This afternoon snorkel excursion was literally perfect. We came late in the whale season and got to see a mom and baby humpback on our way to Molokini. Normally this location is only able to be accessed in the morning so we were lucky for a calm ride to check it out. The boat was spacious and comfortable and the boat had a glass bottom boat deck with a window to watch the fish or snorkelers swim by for those who didn’t want to get in the water! They even had “rockers” for the kids to float on top of and look the glass window to feel the real snorkeling experience. On the ride back we saw pods of dolphins. Such a special day!

Maui Ocean Center
We had to of course visit the aquarium of Hawaii! This was a small but special exhibit full of marine life that captivated us in. We met a special sea turtle friend that greeted us with warmth and enjoyed exploring the rooms of fish and sharks. So many beautiful creatures to learn about! It was a quick and easy outing that we truly loved.
